Testimonials
Sorrel worked with me during 2021-2022, editing my new horror series Gallows Tree Hall, which is set in Cornwall and will be published in 2025. Sorrel always gave me very constructive feedback on my manuscripts, taking time to research the background to the stories, helping me to shape them and further develop the characters whilst editing the final text to a very high standard. Sorrel was always quick to reply to my queries, helpful, encouraging and fun to work with. I have no hesitation in recommending her.
Alan Sanders-Clarke, author of The Smugglers of Mousehole and the Galllows Tree Hall series.
I have known Sorrel for over four years, in her capacity as series editor, editor and author. She has proved herself invaluable in her contributions to two flagship series – Ladybird Readers and Penguin Readers – both of which she was instrumental in setting up. Sorrel is consistent in delivering manuscripts of the highest quality, to schedule. Particularly impressive has been her work with high profile brands such as Peppa Pig and Roald Dahl, and bestselling authors from Lee Child to Bernardine Evaristo, and she can be trusted to treat content with sensitivity and creativity. As a team member, Sorrel is never less than professional, reliable, and a pleasure to work with. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Sorrel for future work.
Ann Sandham, Commissioning Editor, Penguin Random House UK
I am an RA-exhibited artist and published author of sociological and philosophical works. All my life I have kept diaries into which I have sketched, painted and recorded my thoughts concerning the mechanisms of society. In the early part of 2023, with the help of my publicist, I hired an editor to collate these entries for publication. Sorrel worked for me throughout the spring and early summer, visiting the house twice a week and combing through each diary (there were more than one hundred of them), choosing and photographing what she felt to the best of my work. She then laid it out for me in digital form, creating caption text and a Foreword and index. The collection, called LIFE, will be published in May 2024 by Mount Orleans Press.
This was a daunting job and Sorrel quickly devised an intelligent system by which I could be fully involved in finalising the selections. Sorrel is reliable, extremely professional and very pleasant to work with. She has continued to help me deal with the publication process, attending meetings with my publisher and advising where she can. Sorrel’s contribution has been invaluable and I thoroughly recommend her both as an editor and publishing consultant.
Tony Wilson, author of The Universe on a Bicycle (Elliott and Thompson 2007) and The Wheels of Society (Quartet 2021).
Sorrel edited four titles for me during 2022. She worked with the author to develop and polish his core text into high-quality manuscripts that were delivered on time and will be published in 2024. Sorrel is a pleasure to work with and has vast publishing experience which will be invaluable to any novice author. I highly recommend her as both as an editor and a writer.

Sorrel is one of the best editors I have ever worked with. She has the knack of combining a light touch with incisive feedback, which make the process of editing and redrafting seem painless. I often feel I have learnt something new thanks to her editorial insights and comments. I’m very happy when I know Sorrel is editing or managing a project.

Sorrel grew as a senior editor/commissioning editor over the years I worked with her. Her passion for good writing was highlighted by her choice of authors and her selection of titles to be retold. She worked incredibly well with authors, editors and designers. She was creative, conceiving of new projects and series as well as having an eye for detail always delivering high quality content. She worked across children, teen, young adult and adult titles. She also had commercial acumen for publishing for different markets. I have no hesitation recommending her.

Testimonials from my Reedsy clients (see https://reedsy.com/sorrel-pitts)
I have never written anything for potential public consumption and the content of my proposed classic is complex enough that the approach and style were far from clear. Sorrel's insights enabled me to arrive at a very firm approach now subject to legal consideration due to the aforementioned complexity. She researched independently in order that she could presesent some options to me. Her editing and clarity of viewpoint has helped me tighten up my style, or even develop one. I certainly have no complaints regarding value as her contribution will go well beyond the immediate confines of the collaboration thus far. We concluded our project review this morning and as per every previous occasion Sorrel was punctual and very positive. To finish, I got a lot out of the project and I am grateful to Reedsy and Sorrel in particular for the opportunity to collaborate.

Sorrel took the time to understand my project. She worked quickly and thoroughly, maintained good communication, and was constructive in her criticism. Her life experience and professional experiences were a plus for this project. If I decide to take her advice someday and turn this story into a collection, I would request her collaboration again.

Five stars on all that you value in Reedsy representatives. What more could a person want. Sorrel worked though all the nuances of a first time writer walking through the minefield getting to traditional publishing. I'd use her again any time. The best!

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Sorrel. She is a painstaking editor with wide experience of the publishing world. She did a great job in bringing my first draft up to the standard required by publishers. Above all, I appreciated her perceptive comments on where the story needed filling out or simplifying, and how I might adapt it so as to fit current trends. Thanks, Sorrel, you were always professional, and I felt I had met a friend as well as an expert collaborator. Definitely five stars!
